Our Story

Behind the Scenes

Troop 3 is the oldest, continuosly run Boy Scout Troop on Long Island. We were first chartered in September of 1910 as BSA Troop 1 Smithtown, New York.

Troop 3 is sponsored by American Legion Post 833 JAMES ELY MILLER

Our troop meetings are held every Tuesday evening from 7:30pm to 8:30pm at:

Forest Brook Elementary School

We are part of the Boy Scouts of America. Locally, we are part of the Suffolk Council and the Matinecock District.

 

Activities:

  • Weekly meetings September thru June

  • Outdoor activity - once per month

  • Summer camp - one week each summer

  • High Adventure Trips

  • Participate in Matinecock District Polar Bear

  • Court of Honor ceremonies 4 times per year

  • Annual Flower Sales

  • Troop committee monthly meetings - every 1st Thursday

  • Scouting for Food

  • Service projects
